Thank you for confirming my measurements, couldn't imagine it working any
other way. I can cross VFO2 off the possible cause list...

PS If I feed 2.5mhz into the set via antenna socket from a signal generator
the set receives it at 2.5mhz. If I tune the sig gen to 2.6mhz, the RA17
receives at 2.4 (2.7/2.3; 2.8/2.2; 2.4/2.6) etc. Any suggestions on the
cause appreciated. It receives nothing else.

***** What particular part of the manual are you referring to?
My 2nd VFO tunes from 3.1 at the 0 end to 2.1 at the 1000 end.
