I frequently see the term "rare" mis-applied here and in other
electronics newsgroups, but it certainly seems justified in this case.
These were sometimes used (with the appropriate drawer) for antenna
radiation pattern studies made in the field for FM and VHF/UHF TV
stations. This is a top-of-the-line mil-spec receiver, and this
example does indeed appear to be in exceptional condition, probably
needing only relatively minor repairs and then calibration with a
standard signal generator to put it back into perfect operating
condition.

For those of you not familiar with Nems-Clarke, they were best known
for a number of receivers and meters used to measure RF field
intensities. Many of their standard broadcast band field intensity
meters manufactured 40-50 years ago are still in use at directional AM
radio stations - I have used them at several stations over the last 30
years.
