Default Voice and Data

I'm finishing up an article for a ham publication, concerning a packet
radio type device.

Basically it is a vocoder (DVSI AMBE) and data modem using the
CML RD-LAP protocol chip. I've built four of these gadgets, and
they are quite a bit of fun at 9600 bps into my Yaesu rigs.

Basically every time you key-up to talk, the first thing it does is
transmit your GPS information (lat/lon/heading/speed/altitude),
and your callsign, which shows up in the other persons LCD panel.

I plan a general data capability further down the road.

There's no 9600 bps digital repeaters in town here, and I was
wondering if someone makes a 9600 bps repeater controller
board? I know TAPR used to make a 9600 bps digital repeater
board, but I don't think the FIFO chip is available anymore to
make it functional?? It's also a pretty old design.

Any hints on something that is being marketed today?
