Any general purpose packet program can be used with it. Or just use a
simple terminal program - e.g. HyperTerminal if you use 32 bit Windows.
Starting with something simple, so you have to learn the TNC commands,
is always a good idea.

Two problems you might have -

1. If the PK-232 has previously been used with one of those stupid
programs that default to leaving it in host mode, you will need to send
it three quick Ctrl+Cs to get it out of host mode. Or disconnect the
back-up battery for a while to cause it to reset.

2. If it doesn't have a back-up battery, or it has been reset, then it
will need auto-bauding - send it a *
