I just put in the frequencies and i did hear a transmission from what
sounded like a fire dept. I have an old Radio shack ground plane with a 16
foot radius and three vertical elements.I can hear Police depts. aprox.20
miles away. I'll just keep plugging away and hope for the best. Thank you
guys for the info. You were a big help.
Thanks again!

There are some issues with reception of the new MPSCS (Michigan Public
Safety Communication System), of which the city of Detroit is now a part
of. While it is a Motorola APCO-25 digital system, Detroit, and Genesee
County are on what is called a simulcast system, which has been a little
more difficult to decode. It doesn't matter which digital scanner you
have, they're all having problems with Detroit.
Detroit is using 868.7250 as it's primary control channel. The secondary
control channels are 868.5375, and 868.9375. Plug them in your scanner,
and scan in open mode, see what you get. Depending on where you live, and
what you're using for an antenna, you might be successful! Let us know.
You can find more info here,
http://www.radioreference.com/module...=TRSDB&sid=100 including
all the other cities, and counties on MPSCS, as well as the Talk Groups!
There is also a forum for Michigan here,

I received a Pro 96 from Santa this year.It replaced my Pro 39. I would
like to listen to the Detroit city police dept.but I was told that the
scanner can't decode the signals. Has anyone figured out how to program
the scanner to do this? I have the win96 program and it is excellent.Any
help will be greatly appreciated. Detroit is where the real stuff happens
and the local police are getting boring.
Thanks
