The chassis should have intergral electrical insulators that
isolate it from the cabinet.

Personally, I'd use a polarized grounded plug to insure the case was at
ground
potential (while maintaining the insulators to keep the neutral side
isolated).

The original S-38 had six tubes (dedicated BFO instead of a regenerative
IF), so it might be the more desirable from a boatanchor tube count aspect..
