Dear Bill N8JOS (aka "No One"):
The APCO 25 digital system (which is what is being used in Michigan)
will not sound like (have the frequency fidelity nor amplitude smoothness)
of an FM system. (at least not when listened to on the available lower cost
radios.) The digital system is, well, digital and is quantized at a
none-too-fast rate.

In short, the "new" system does not sound like the systems of old.
Fortunately, humans are able, if they are willing, to understand less than
faithful reproductions of the human voice. My students once produced a two
bit quantization of human speech. It was not clear, but it was
understandable. In the early days of the use of SSB, some people had
difficulty in understanding the signals. I have long observed that some
people are much better at accommodating to less than perfect reproductions
than other people.

I speculate that you may be one of the few for whom signals must be
clear in order to be satisfactory. In time, lower cost receivers will
become better. Stay tuned.

I am Not Talking about The AUDIO SOUND..( fidelity )

I am refering to the FACT that EVERY other Word is Heard on the System.

It doesnot make sense to have a system where if a SENTENCE spoken is 20
words long and all the system rebroadcast is 12 of those words .

The TRANSMISSIONS donnot Make any Sense .
Example.

I am Chasing a Blue Pontiac on I-75

The words Heard on the Pro2096 would be

am a pontiac 75

I never hear the words I / Chasing / a/ Blue / on/ 1-

It Was chopping off WORDS

I tried win96

I had the Scanner for over a Month.

Radio Shack Repair in Buffalo,Ny Had the 2096 for a week on that time .
Thats where the TECH said He was when he Called me and SAID, THAT THE
PRO2096 ISNOT compatible with SIMULCAST APCO 25 System in Genesee county

Needless to say.. I DONNOT have That Scanner anymore . Radio Shack sent
me My $450.00 Back
