Thanks Al for a terrific recommendation! I also appreciated the other
responses, however, it felt like I might have trampled on some feelings by
daring pose my question on this newsgroup. Evidentally Digi-Key should have
been as instinctive to me as a cat licking its kittens.

Anyway, Radio Daze is perfect, has exactly what I need, fresh stock
and, just as important to me, does not seem to play all the games with
excessive minimum orders and bogus add on charges. In fact, they state
emphatically they charge only actual shipping cost.
I prefer to throw my business to companies like that as I have grown tired
of the corporate charlatans who feel we as customers have no choice but to
let them treat us in any way they can.

Digi-Key is probably the place to go. Yes, they have a minimum order
that
is pretty high, but their prices are excellent. Yageo 1/4W metal films
in 1% at $8/200. They have 1/2 W carbon films too if that's what you
want.
They'll sell you five of one value, or five thousand.
