Because if it came from the moon there would be a few seconds delay as it's
a long way to the moon and back.
If it was back scatter the signal would show up instantly and would obvious.

Our club station has a card for an EME QSO with W5UN. We have
very simple equipment, so how do I know that it was really EME
and not backscatter, since we are in Texas as well (as well as
he is, I mean..)? Just because W5UN says so?
