Give up CB for Ham?

One day I'm on the interstate... snowing real bad. Call out on the usual
simplex channels on VHF/UHF to get a traffic/conditions report... no
answer. So I grab the "emergency" CB radio I keep under the seat. Call
out on Ch 19... got _many_ responses - mostly truckers all with solid
info. Very useful - and enjoyed listening to them all help each other.
That day, ham radio lost and CB won.

Alot of people are telling me that CB is just for inbred hicks and that
I should replace the CB in my truck with a ham radio. What do you
think?
If you're traveling a long distance and don't want to hear the usual CB
chatter - 2 meters and so on is great. For Road reports - I agree - CB IS
the answer - hands down. I'd never give mine up........ I installed one in
my truck just for that reason. BOTH services have their advantages and
disadvantages. I don't think anyone is saying Ham is the "gift from god"
when it comes to radio. Even FRS has its place. It all depends on the need
and so on.
