Dear Ms. Renee,
I own or have owned three Sangean-brand receivers, all of which had
problems within a short time (after the warranty expired). One radio
"died" entirely, another was getting its computer in a twist, and the
third, still in use, gives some problems with its mechanicals -
buttons, knobs, etc. Therefore I, personally, would not recommend
anyone buy a Sangean radio. That said, I do know there are people who
are totally satisfied with theirs, but I can only go by my own
experience.
The Degen DE-1103 is a good buy at its price, if bought from the eBay
dealer in China, but note that warranty service will be "pot-luck." I
do know that the Degens are well-made, especially for a Chinese
receiver. (Note that I do not own one.)
I DO own five Sony ICF-SW7600GRs as well as two of the previous model,
the ICF-SW7600G. The 'GRs are all in current use. These radios, in
addition to performing exceptionally well, especially for a small
portable radio, are built to an extremely high standard and hold up
very well, probably better than any other small portable. They are easy
and straightforward to use.
It is my opinion that your husband (and you!) would like the Sony radio
very much and would be pleased with it far longer than the others you
mention. I highly recommend it to you.
Best,
Joe

Hello all! This one looks good on paper but I can't find any reviews.
I'd like to get a small portable for my husband to take on his
overseas trips, I've been looking at this one, Sony ICF-7600GR or
Degen DE-1103. Any suggestions?
