Hello,

Yes! I've plugged in a portable radio with headphones, and listen to
myself broadcast on this. It sounds like I have 10 layers of tinfoil
between me and my microphone when I talk, and I get a constant 'buzz'
noise on transmit. This has been tested with an AC-DC power supply,
and also wired straight to a 12V car battery. If I yell REALLY loud,
with my mouth touching the microphone, I am more understandable. When I
key up, other people can hear me, and some of them can understand me,
but they all say that something is wrong with my radio, and that it is
not my microphone.They also report that I am coming in as loud as I do
when I use my working radio. It just kinda sounds like a horrible
kazoo. My SWR shows happy still, and my power output according to my
external meter is what I would consider normal (4 or 5 and swings to 10
or so when I talk).

I've done a visual inspection of the board, and all solder joints
appear fine, and there is no visual 'burn marks' or other tell tale
signs.

This broken radio also receives and does everything 100% normally. It
receives like a champ. This is a single sideband radio by the way. The
radio is also set to AM mode, and I'm certain that every knob and
switch is set to the proper mode.

I do have the full schematics for this radio.



Have you ever considered maybe getting a different hobby? How about Stamp
Collecting? Many CB'ers find collecting stamps much easier to understand.
The only thing CB'ers make mistakes with in stamp collecting is they lick
the wrong side of the stamp sometimes.
