Hello all, I've inherited my dads old Hammarlund 129, (actually, This
radio was by my bedside all my growing years), well my father passed
away three weeks ago and I got this beloved radio. It hadn't been fired
up in 20 years and there is simply no audio output.`I fully plan to
recap this rig, but I'm not sure this is the problem. All tubes fire
up, no I have not tested them yet. You fellers have any clues to a
possible problem? T6 audio transformer bad?? How do you test this
transformer...The electrolytic cap measures excellent voltage at all
three terminals, not shorted to case. This will be my first radio
restore, and any help is greatly appreciated...Thank You...Randy
Is there a hum from the audio, and if so does it change with the volume
control?
Check the paper caps... just check them all with an ohmmeter and I bet
you find at least one shorted one. I'd tend to shotgun them all out
myself, but find the problem first before you go swapping the rest
of them out.
The transformer almost certainly won't fail... not unless it's damaged
as the result of a tube or cap failure.
