how to improvise a car battery charger?
Don't forget about diode polarity: The cathode (-) end of the diode goes to
the battery and the anode end (+) goes to the lamp cord!

Yep. Take a piece of lamp cord with a plug on the end.
One lead to the negative terminal of the battery.
The other lead to a 100watt light bulb, a 5amp/100v rectifier diode,
to the plus terminal of the battery, in series......
This will charge the battery pretty well . If you are not careful,
it will also shock the hell out of you, but it is simple .
Clue: don't have the battery in your car when you do this....
It ain't rocket surgery, but you gotta understand what you're
doing. MacGiver could blow up a space shuttle with this setup......
