Default What Shortwave to purchase?

Joe, I am still not sure where to buy the Sony ICF 7600
besides e-bay. I may have to do that. I went to a major electronics
place in Korea, and they only had the Sony ICF-11. It is not what I
need. There may be a major Sony outlet, but I cannot read Korean, so I
am not sure how to contact Sony. I am sure I will figure it out. I
will only use e-bay as a last resort. Tell me about this antenna.
Where would I find the AN-LP antenna?

Thanks for your information.... I intend to buy this radio. Tell me
more about this antenna.

Dear Basil,

In my opinion, the best radio of the three you mention is the Sony
ICF-SW7600GR. Please remember that an antenna (properly matched to the
radio) is even more important than the radio itself for good results.
The best radio in the world will not perform adequately if not fed
properly from a good antenna.

That said, I believe that the Sony ICF-SW7600GR is the best small
shortwave receiver currently being manufactured, both in terms of
overall performance and construction quality, and its price is right.
As you are in Asia, you may be able to buy a Sony AN-LP1 Active Loop
Antenna which is a fine match for the Sony. A forty-to-sixty foot long
outdoor wire is said by some to perform well with this receiver also,
but I have no personal experience with that. Still, as a long wire
antenna is inexpensive, it might be worth a try.

I hope the above is of some use to you.

Best,

Joe

I would like to say that I have
dreamed of buying a strong short wave. I bought some KAITO shortwave
and it did not seem to be pick up much for my taste. It was a waste of
money. I can't remember the model number. I just left it back home in
the U.S., because it was not strong enough. Anyway, I want to know
more about the following radios Sony ICF-11, Sangean ATS 606, and the
Sony 7600. Which one is the best to get? I am looking for someone
light, durable, and strong in terms of picking up stations of different
countries. I am in South Korea at the moment, and I want to hear the
U.S. and Canada.
I have heard that TECSUN makes decent shortwaves. How do they compare
to the Sony 7600?

Thanks...

Basil
