Default 6BE6 vs 6BY6

For use in a product detector, is there an obvious "better choice"

The 6BE6 seems more common and looks like it'd be better for use with
AGC applied, but that's not how my product detector works, so I don't
know if there's something else which is a determining factor.

The 6BY6 seems to have originally been intended as a sync separator
for TV use.

Tim.

A diode ring mixer from Mini-Circuits?

Seriously, in the later publications that I have the move had started to
balanced mixers -- I would investigate using a twin triode, or get one
of those evil dual-plate steered beam devices (apparently they're
susceptible to stray magnetic fields).

Do you need to implement control loops in software?
"Applied Control Theory for Embedded Systems" gives you just what it says.
