Default Long wire help

Need help. I live in the the country with room for longwire or looped
antenna. The tower
(50 feet w/15' mast) is in rear of house (eastside) . Electric
transformer for house is approx. 125 feet east of tower and is on the
pole. Power from transformer to the house is underground.
Transmission lines come from east. The house sits on a small butte and
there is a steep 30-40 foot drop off in all directions. There is very
little soil, just limestone rock.
Questions 1 Is one antenna better than other?
2 Is there going to be alot of noise because
of the transformer?
3 I understand lack of soil depth is an
advantage. Is this true for both
transmit and receive?
4 Is there any advantage in running part of the
wire off the top of the hill?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanking you in advance,
Ron Ingram
