Default FTDX 100 Value

I am very attached to my FT101D. No parting with that. When I got it, I
got a pair of final tubes to keep in stock, but I never needed them. Ah
now I want to get it out and mess up some tv's.

I am a new ham and I recently bought an FTDX 100 from another ham. This
radio was working in his shack when he sold it to me as part of a lot. He

approximately. Was there something special about this particular radio?

Geoff,
Experienced hams often help out new hams by giving them a good
deal on stuff to get started. That's part of the spirit of the hobby.
I don't know if that's the case or not with your transaction, but if
it is, maybe he just has nostalgic feelings for that particular rig
and regrets having let it go.

I don't think it's amazingly valuable. Maybe $200 US? That guess
comes from a completed listings search on eBay for the FTDX
series. A higher-powered rig sold for a little bit less than that
recently.

Maybe you could let the group know what you paid for it. If he
gave you a good deal, then I think the proper thing to do is let
him have it back for the same price, rather than trying to make a
profit. Chances are, he'll help you find another rig at a good price.

Of course, if you've grown very attached to it, you're not under
any obligation to sell it back to him. But at its best, this hobby is
full of people who help each other out as they can, you know?

Dale
