Just say NO to HD/IBOC!

Too late. Approaching 2000 stations signed for HD in the US, and virtual
total coverage of the viable signals in the top 100 markets, reaching
over
80% of the population.

DE - Your's is a 'qulified' reality where 20%
of the People don't count. ~ RHF

It's early yet... there are 50 to 100 stations coming on board each month.

Remember that as many as half of all AMs are not viable, and that the top
100 markets have only about 150 viable stations on AM, you get a better
perspective.

DE - Your's is a 'qualified' reality where 20%
of the People don't count. Considering Your
Claimed 'self-Identification' with the Hispanic
{Minority} Community - How Can You Ever
Discount People ? - It Boogles the Mind !

I AM AN AM/MW AND FM RADIO LISTENER
AND I DO COUNT ! ~ RHF

DE - With your kind of thinking of course AM Radio
is not "Viable" and with a 1% HD Radio signal that
serves only at best 66% of the former AM Analog
Service Area; HD Radio will kill AM Radio as a
"Viable" Commercial Enterprise.

HDTV {Digital} gets about 50% of the old Analog TV ERP.
- - - TV Transmitting power allowed by the FCC
To make up for the inability of UHF to reach into valleys,
the FCC allows UHF stations to have higher power.
TV Channels - - - Analog TV - - - HDTV
Channels 2-6 = = = 100 KW = = = = 50 KW
Channels 7-13 = = 316 KW = = = = 160 KW
Channels 14-69 = = = 5 MW = = = = 1 MegaWatts

IMHO - For the FM Radio the FM "HD" Radio Signal
should be closer to 50% and way above 1% for "HD"
Radio to work effectively {be Viable} and serve the
FM Radio Listeners.

1% is not the Answer to AM Radios "Viability" ~ RHF
