I want to ZAPP those dogs, run them off my street.

I heard about this device this morning on WLS. Sounds very interesting. Somehow
a very bright LED flashlight, that changes colours and has a variable frequency
can render one disoriented and sick.

Kinda reminds me of strobe lights, which can trigger seizures.

About 20 years ago we had an intern who was deaf.

She carried a "screamer" that was supposed to incapacitate attackers
with
sound. I didn't put much stock in it, until the Wednesday morning she
was
attacked by a group of 4 young men in our parking lot. Just before
8:00AM
I was assaulted by the loudest, most obnoxious noise I had ever heard.
And I was inside a building that was pretty sound proof. I strolled
toward the
sound and when I opened the outside door I nearly fell to my knees. It
was nasty.
She just walked up and turned it off and apologized and thought
nothing of it.

Now that device wouldn't have done me a bit of good because I would
have
been down with the attackers.

Back during the disco craze I made some nice side money building
strobes
that cost me ~20$ for several hundred. Several discotheques had
trouble
with people seizing when the strobes where synched with music. Every
pounding bas note triggered the strobes.

Given some of the fire/police etc now run LED strobes that are painful
to look
at in bright light, I can see how one might ruin someones day. I
wonder if dark
sunglasses would help.

Flash and bang hostage rescue granades are less then effective if the
bad guys have
such shades on.
