Hello Ken,
From your comment, it appears that you are seeing all new posts to the
group in chronological order. That can be very frustrating.

You may not be aware that most newsreaders will sort messages by thread
snip
You can't control which threads are posted to the newsgroup, but you
can
make it easier to read only those that interest you.
It appears that his source is http://www.giganews.com which is web based.
They probably have options for sorting by date, thread etc. I think you
are
correct. He should structure his viewing on giganews in such as a way as
to
only view the threads of interest. He does noy use a normal 'newsreader'
like most usenet vets are using.
For what it's worth, I use NewsRover to read news. GigaNews is only the
source. I' not sure what is a "normal newsreader". *nix people have their
favorites and google news people have no contro. I know how to use Outlook
but NewsRover gives me much more control. I can filter on header content
or message content in a variety of Boolean ways. I can also block senders
if the sender doesn't fake his post address.
If you don't know the capabilities of News Rover you can check it out on
SandH.com. It is as perfect at retrieving threads as a newsreader can be.
And yes, I can kill threads by subject if the authors don't keep messing
around with the Subject. In this case, the newsgroup was so dominated by a
single poster that blocking made more sense to me. So yes, I am
structuring my viewing so as to only see the threads of interest.
Now back to discussions about antennas. 73 and Happy New Year.
