Need article from July 1986 QST, P45
I'll have to update it, thought it was correct. here it is:
Thanks for your kind help. I would like to see just what's involved
in the 30m addition. At present am testing a remote tuning network
that will tune all of 80m and all of 160m from inside the shack, was
tired
of running outside and changing taps, etc. So far it's working fine,
but for some reason it just won't tune 30 m. I called Hy Gain and
they claim that using their LQ-160 base loading coil you can find a
30m and 60m tap point, but I've been unable to find it with my
network, thus the request for the article. It uses a johnson
rotary inductor from the junk box, and a vacuum relay plus some
other stuff.
On a bad note, last night we had a freak severe windstorm that snapped
one of the base insulators, and now the whole thing is lying against
the eave of the house on about a 60 degree angle, so will have to
dismantle it and try to come up with some kind of insulator, as Hy
Gain changed the design of the whole base assembly (mine is circa
1960) and nothing they make now fits. I'm thinking of maybe turning
something out of Fiberglass rod or some type of strong non-conducting
material, and am open to suggestions Thanks for the article.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the above article
"Adapting Hy Tower For Use On 30M"?
I'd like to see what's involved in adding 30m capability to
the old girl.
Thanks,
