My parents had a radio in the 1930 census.
Looks like a birthday cake on the table with 1 candle on it.
I was the last of ten kids and was born in 1940.
Looks to be to be a radio with a separate speaker.
The radio is setting on the heating stove so it must have been during the
summer.
Last kid to have a birthday in the summer was in 1938

antique radios
We own a Philco 38-7 table model wood box radio. We've seen the breadth of
it's Philco family history and read something about antique radios in
general. The tubes light up. It would seem to get am/fm overseas stations
and police band frequencies. We don't know. We know it was seen by a White
Plains, NY "Radio Doctor" in 1955.
This baby's been sitting in the attic for probably 20 years and we've done
nothing with it. I know we can get the proper manual to make it operable
but not really certain we want to. We think it needs a new home
withsomeone else who would properly care for it. And yes, we'd prefer to
sell it. Suggestions?
And sitting on a radiator. That must have shortened the life. Ken
