I assume that the 718 uses the same 6 pin, Molex-looking plug that most
recent HF radios use. Digikey has a Molex connector similar, but not quite
the same. An Exacto knife can make it fit, but a better bet is to go to a
place like Tower Electronics who sells these connectors as a generic HF
Radio power plug.
At
http://www.pl-259.com/page4.html they call it a "Kenwood, Icom & Yaesu
6-pin DC plug, with 4 pins & boot"

Hello-
I recently picked up a used IC-718 real cheap. To the extent that outward
appearances matter, this thing looks nearly brand-new.
However, I was not able to get the power cable... no problem, I thought,
I'll just make my own.
Well, the connector on the back looks like something Molex might make, but
I haven't been able to confirm that, or determine what the part number
would be.
I spent some time at Molex's web site, and some time at Mouser's, and
while I've found similar connector shells, nothing matches. I'm beginning
to wonder if the connector was custom-made for ICOM.
Anybody know where I can find the connector I need?
Pete
