Default Can a Heathkit HP-23 be used on Drake TR-4?

I wonder if anyone here has modified a HP-23 to be used with Drake
gear?
The high voltage on the HP-23 runs about 800 volts and in the Drake
AC-4 at 650 volts, Im sure the other voltages differ from one to the
other as well.
Would like to know if there is a way to mod the PS.

Any input appreciated

Thanks for reading, Gil n2wjw

You really ought to swap with someone to avoid *******ization.

There must be a schematic of the HP23 on BAMA. There are Drake T-4xB
manuals for free there too with the supplies. It looks like a plain old
voltage doubler. You could add a choke in the lead of the common leg and it
might drop it to where you need it and improve regulation. The other
voltage is 250v vs. 275v on the Heath. You might replace that choke with a
resistor. The bias would just need to be adjusted. Then you still need to
make a cable. Another way is to Mod the Drake for 6146B and get rid of the
sweep tubes and never worry about finding replacements ever again. I also
ran across a sheet on that. It would be kind of sacrilegious though. I
never liked radios with sweep tubes, but my R-4B was my favorite.
