yard sale find
I moved to Utah (Pleasant Grove) about 8 years ago. Yes, the Redwood
Drive-in is still there, though I have never attended a show. I don't
know if they have a swapfest - I should look into that. I used to do
the 40 mile commute from Pleasant Grove to Salt Lake and would pass by
the theater regularly. I did a quick search online, and the theater
was renovated in 2004.
You'd hardly recognize the area if you came back to visit. Draper and
Riverton have exploded. Draper homes now extend a good ways up Point
of the Mountain, and all of Traverse Ridge is fully developed. (There
are also three LDS temples on the south end of the valley to give you
an idea of population growth.)
I had a good friend, Jim Bailey that lived in Salt Lake and has since
retired to Upstate New York. I believe he was a regular participant on
the r+p groups. Jim had a very nice collection, and some of my larger
radios were bought from him.

Yet if ebay didn't exist, I wouldn't have even a fraction of my current
collection. I buy Nixie tubes from Russia, audio tubes for guitar amp
projects from around the world, and any various components for radio
restoration. Salt Lake City is not typically known for its abundance of
hamfests and electronic swaps.
I am able to do more now with my electronics hobbies than I was ever able
to do years before internet access.
It's been many years since I lived in the area (Sandy, Riverton, Draper).
Do they still have the big swap meet at the Redwood Drive-in? (do they even
still have the Redwood Drive-in?)
