Good aye mates,
My Pro-97 scanner has stopped scanning completely.
It doesn't scan using rechargeable batteries, nor when I plug it in to
the
wall socket. All the frequencies are still here. It says that it is
scanning, but it never moves from the frequency it is on.
Sometimes I hear static when I turn the squelch all the way
counterclockwise. Sometimes it remains silent. When I press the
weather
button, I don't hear any weather information on any of the five
different
National weather channels.
Nothing is received even when I place the scanner on the local police
frequency. I hear nothing at all anywhere. The cursor blinks normally,
but
it doesn't move from band to band.
All indicators look normal, but it is silent, and won't scan. Only
blinks?
Thankee
If you turn the scanners squelch all the way counter clockwise and hear a
rushing sound your audio amp is working properly. If you don't you will have
to get the scanner fixed at radio shack.
If you scan the programmed frequencies, I would do a weather channel scan, if
you know there is a close by weather broadcasting station, and you don't pick
up any transmissions then you could have damaged the antenna connector. Take a
look at the connector with the antenna off and see if the white part with the
small metal clip inside is very wide or bent some how.
It is also possible that the wire that connects to the BNC antenna connector
has separated. You could open the scanner and take a look or have Radio Shack
check your scanner.
It is also possible that the circuitry for receiving signals has some how
failed. You could try a reset of the scanner by:
Scanner Reset
If the scanner's display locks up or does not work properly after you connect
a power source, you might need to reset or initialize it. If you have problems
with the scanner, first try to reset it to retain the memory.
Warning: Initializing the scanner will clear all channel memories and
reverts it the state it was in right out of the box.
To Initialize the scanner, turn off the scanner then turn it back on. Press 0
when the welcome screen appears. 'Please select factory tests. Exit if no key
is pressed' will briefly appear. Then quickly press 1. 'Initialization clear
all memory Enter to confirm Clear to exit' will briefly appear. Quickly press
ENT to initialize. 'Initializing, Please stand by' then appears. Do not turn
off the scanner while it is initializing. The display should then show M000 on
the top line and Bank 0 CH 00 when finished.
