No, sure not, from the description.
Because it takes two USB ports, it obviously contains one
USB WLAN stick and additionally one WLAN booster.
When using one uSB only it will work as standard stick.

Might be, but I mentally ID'ed one cable as the conventional WLAN stick and
the other to be a control lead. See, I know of no software to pick whether
an internal amp should be used or not used. If the amp were out of the
circuit EXCEPT when the other USB cable were plugged in, that could serve to
let the user go into distance mode. It would take tiny relays or some PIN
diodes to impliment such active switching but it's do-able. (Consider that
some FM radios have a LOCAL/DX switch for user control.)

Just a guess.

One of my beefs with most preamplifiers is that, once installed, they _must_
be used; take off the DC and they turn into attenuators.

I'll see what facts I can dig up to support my wifi usb conjecture -- or to
demonstrate that I'm a moron.
