The dial cords are original so I have no earthly idea what they were thinking! I you have a junker set and would like to part with pointers please email me. Google,,, Hallicrafters S 38D Dial Pointers Check the Ebay link. Back in the 1950s I made a dial pointer from a piece of coathanger wire, for our Sears Airline AM radio.
