In article ,
says...
we currently have

ICOM 8500 Receiver
1420 MHz linear amp (company?)
21 cm(?) feed horn (assumed to be homemade)
Agilent E36-46A Power Generator
Agilent 8648B Signal Generator
Dish

we're curious about how to attatch all the components, and if we need
any other ones., thanks

Sounds like you're trying to listen for signals at the hydrogen line.
Probably would be helpful to be more specific about exactly what you're
trying to accomplish. Is an academic advisor available, or did the club
just get a bunch of (rather high-grade!) equipment donated to it with no
further guidance?

Hams involved in this type of work are often associated with the SETI
League (
http://www.setileague.org/index.html). Not sure if there are
any SETI folks around the UDub or Seattle in general -- maybe you should
drop a line to and see if they can point you in the
right direction, so to speak. I'm not very knowledgeable about this
stuff myself, but it sounds interesting.
