The Middle East problem could have been dealt with way back in 1956,
when we, along with the French invaded Egypt, to re-take the Suez
Canal, after Nasser nationalized it

IIRC it was Eisenhower, who demanded we got out and of course, we were
stupid enough to do just that!

I'll bet it would have been a different story if the canal had
belonged to the Americans!

If it did indeed 'belong' to the Americans....then we would have given it
back. Look at the Panama Canal.

We don't have a colonial view on anybody. We made that mistake with the
Phillipines and Puerto Rico. And we still can't get rid of Puerto Rico.
