That's if a religion is defined as such, but that isn't the case in the real
world. Mathematics has never been used to suppress people the way that religion
has been used, and continues to be used today. (although a college student that
has flunked calculus and can't graduate might not think so)

So, as with morse code testing, there are a few that hold onto it like a
religion.
