Hello to all,

I am looking for a source of 3/8 x 24tpi x 1 inch coupling nuts in stainless
steel.

I don't mind if they are in USA.

Can anyone help?

McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com) is also a great online source of
materials. They have ½" hex x 1.125"L coupling nuts in your choice of
either 18-8 or 316 stainless steel:

18-8 = PN 90268A335 = $2.82 USD each
316 = PN 90104A012 = $17.36 USD each

If you mess around with antennas very much a tap and die can be very
useful. I have a small lathe for fabricating parts but befoe I
acquired it I found I could chuck metal in a drill fasten to my work
bench and machine out a lot of small parts, after that came a drill
press bought at auction, and finally I came by a lathe I could fit in
the radio budget.

Jimmie:

Since a lathe can build every tool in a machine shop, including itself,
you have a most desirable setup!

Jimmie,
I have a lathe and a milling machine in my shed, but to make a 3/8 x 24 x
1.25" out of stainless steel, would cost me a lot more than what I can buy
them in USA. The cost from McMaster in USA is $US2.11 each for a buy of 50!
Thanks for your input!
John

Go for the 50! It reminds me of my experience with the chuck wrench for my
drill. I could never seem to find where I'd left it. So I bought a spare.
It too never seemed to be around, so now I buy a box of fifty. That works well --
seems to last me for about two weeks! :-)
