If I recall correctly each calibration manual was part and parcel of the
unit as they were hand calibrated and both shared the same serial number. www.fairradio.com has the mtce manual. -- 73 Hank WD5JFR wrote in message ... Hi all: Somebody knows where can be obtained the calibration book of of the BC-221? Thanks in advance REgards Heriberto LU6DBU |

Thanks Henry and Michael.-
I found a program to make the calibration book taking only some check points. - Thanks again Heriberto LU6DBU "Michael Black" escribió en el mensaje ample.net... Thanks in advance REgards Heriberto LU6DBU Each was hand-calibrated at the factory, and the book matched the unit. Back then, the articles would all say "make sure you get a BC-221 with a calibration book", implying that it would be a terrible task to do it yourself. I have no idea whether that was the case or not, but of course, things were comparatively primitive back then. With a frequency counter, it would be really easy, just repetitive, to build up a calibration book. On the other hand, if you've got a frequency counter, you might as well just us that rather than fuss over a calibration book. Like everything else, you used to be able to buy blank calibration books at the surplus stores. Sixty years after WWII, I have no idea what kind of stock might remain. Michael VE2BVW |

There were some articles regarding BC-221 calibration
in the late 40s early 50s QSTs. Pete |

You should be aware that each BC-221 and the other heterodyne
frequency meters had its own individually plotted calibration book so using one from another meter wasn't an accepted practise. Still, if you don't have any calibration book anything is better than nothing. 73, Michael, W1RC On Sat, 20 Dec 2008 22:49:15 -0500, "Tio Pedro" There were some articles regarding BC-221 calibration in the late 40s early 50s QSTs. |

There is an excellent article with photos of the original equiupment used to calibrate the BC221.It appeared in the Christmas 2008, Issue No. 116 of the UK Publication Radio Bygones. (www.radiobygones.co.uk www.radiobygones.com) The article is based on a reference in the May 1944 edition of "Electronics" (U.S. magazine???)by Philco Engineers which described the calibration procedure in detail Those people were really clever!!!
