Cool Vintage S Meter
Anyone know about the cool external S meter now on ebay? It is supposed to
be an add-on for the Hallicrafters S-40 series. Has an old fashioned prong plug. Looks great and matches my S-40B nicely. Unfortunately the bidding is already more than I paid for the receiver. Item # 5741129577 |
Cute, but I wouldn't have paid $100+ for it, either.
My website has an article ( http://antiqueradio.org/smeter.htm ) including original Hallicrafters documentation for adding an S-meter to the S38, S-40, etc. Another article ( http://antiqueradio.org/magiceye.htm ) has instructions for building a plug-in "magic eye" tuning indicator for the S-20R. Same principle will work for an S-40. Regards, Phil Nelson Phil's Old Radios http://antiqueradio.org/index.html "Diane" wrote in message ... Anyone know about the cool external S meter now on ebay? I'd bet the same applies to accessories for any RX that was sold with *optional* S-meter, xtal calibrator, clock, etc. I'm thinking of the Allied Radio Knight R-100 rx, and the various Hammarlunds with clock options. Though I doubt a clock movement would cost quite as much as a good HQ-180. 73, Mike K. Oscar loves trash, but hates Spam! Delete him to reply to me. |
