SBE repairs
I have an old Console V base station made by SBE in the '70s. Great
radio, but it's having problems -- the squelch isn't working anymore -- at least not the way it's supposed to. A fellow I know who has worked on it thinks it's something in an IC in the radio, but the parts are almost impossible to come by. I have the manual and schematics -- anyone out there want to try their hand at going through it for me? |
try replacing (testing) the pot
if that don't work, then go to the board. |

I seem to recall that there is a germanium PNP transistor (a 2SB-type) in there (One of very few), that has a tendency to go bad. I once worked on a Console V with a similar problem years ago. I don't have the schematic for the radio any more or I'd give you the part number. Dave "Sandbagger" http://home.ptd.net/~n3cvj |
