Hello Frank.

Is that a true story?

I've never had any problems with you that I know of Brian. (besides
top-posting) Frank seems to be full of **** and vinegar as of late.

Between Frank... and this other guy... AKC... or whatever he goes by
this week... I'm not sure how they are fuctioning in society. I guess
it's all a ploy for attention. I can't even imagine acting like a 10
year old just for attention. How old are these guys anyway? I hope your
not going to tell me they're adults...

Only junk amps have 50% key down ratings, actually a person should not settle for less than 100% key down rating (amp has 100% on time). And, certain a 75% keydown time (7.5 minutes out of every 10 minutes) should be considered a minimum rating!

Not true. Intermittent Communication Service (ICS) is 50% duty cycle.
If you are transmitting more than 50% of the time while on the CB band
you are up to no good.

This amp is rated at 50%, and it is not junk.

A regulated bias supply is a sign of someone who is trying to build
an above average amp. Most CB amps just put the transistor base a
zero bias, and then let the amp sound terrible on sideband. The rest
use diode clamps for AB1.
It would be nice to see the schematic for those for us teaching our
selves electronics, not to mention any servicing if any that might pop
up at some future moment.

Well, there you have it.

Say someone sits on the mic and keys the transmitter, or it gets stuck down in the seat leaving the transmitter keyed on. Maybe 15-20 minutes, or so, later the amp is toast, especially if the temps inside the car are high (summer time.)

These junk amps like this are just a waste of money.

Perhaps the advertisement should read; "A certain amount of
intelligence is required on the part of the operator to insure
reliable communications service".

How to avoid the following...

1) "Say someone sits on the mic and keys the transmitter, or it gets
stuck down in the seat leaving the transmitter keyed on. "

Answer; User a mic clip. Mount it to the side of the radio. Put the
mic in the mic clip when you are done talking.

So did you design that amp? I about ready to design my own homebrew
amp. Did you use computer software to map out the circuit traces for
the printed circuit board, and if so what software did you use?
