in a gallon..

4.50 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds = 8.28851 USD
United States Dollars
1 GBP = 1.84189 USD 1 USD = 0.542920 GBP

That makes our fuel at $8.29 now... not in the future (

Bet that makes you feel better...lol

judging by the size of the cars and lorries in the uk the miles per
gallon should be higher than the behemoths that travel the us' roads.

I agree the US has a lot of gas guzzling vehicals but UK has a fair few too.
That said, theres no reason why you guys couldnt use more economical cars.
Personally i drive a Ford Granada 2.5 scorpio turbo and wouldnt feel safe in
anything smaller, at least theres some metal around you to protect you in an
average collision. Theres some pretty big 4x4's about too. That said our
prices have gone up and up with the pretence of "cutting back on emissions
to save the environment" then they go to war and put tons more pollutants in
the air.... and blow thousands of people to smithereens... Absolutely
bonkers

mate your scorpio is not recognized in the u.s.. have a similar type we
can relate to?

I would not hold y our breath in hopes of seeing under $1 per gallon
gas here in the US. Those days are long gone. Besides there is and has
been insufficient oil resereves in the ground for the US. US usage of
oil and oil products is so massive that we are forced to import either
crude oil or refined oil products.

Even if you pump the coast of California, Florida and Alaska, There is
not enough oil in those fields to make the US self suffiecient beyound
about 2020. After that the US oil reserves will be down to about 1 to
3 million barrels per day. 2002 projections are the US has about 32
billion barrels of proven reserves. Estimates that these reserves
could grow 73 billion barrles and there is estimates of 83 billion
barrels undiscovered. We are useing about 17 billion barrels of oil
per yr and expected to grow to 25 billion barrels by the end of 2025.

We can not drill enough oil to keep the US self sufficient for not
more than 8 to 10 yrs. After that we will have to buy 100% of our
refined oil products abroad. Tapping our reserves is only going to
prolong the inevitable. So as long as the US wants to buy $1 per
gallon gas and thinks it can for ever are just fooling themselfs.
Figure about 2020 time frame paying closer $20 per gallon, if not
sooner.

Bull****

The answer Cleary is supply side.

More bull****.

This is America fuel should and
could be under 1.00 a gallon if we can get the politicians out of it.

Even more bull****. Get the Bushies out of the equation and start forcing
the "speculators" out and prices would settle where they should be, IMO,
somewhere around 2 to 2.50 a gal.

If its an imperial gallon then it may be what magnum claimed. either way
the boys in euro pay a boatload more than we do.

Sounds about right.. We pay a boatload more in a lot of things but i guess
its just the way it is. House prices can be the worst. You wouldnt believe
some of the "crap" some people are buying that costs over £150K ($276,461).
The average house is around £200K ($368,619) and anything half decent would
be £250K ($460,773) and over except in London where you would have trouble
buying a small flat for that with no land at all... I wouldnt mind
emigrating to the US but i see that as a dream rather than a reality...

Ok, lets go.

'Normal' fuel with 91 oktane is about 1,43 EURO per litre in Germany.
This is 5.43 EUR per US-gallon (3.8 litres)
Currency chart is 0.7985 US$for 1 Euro.
So we have to pay 6.80US$/ gallon.

Diesel is about 1.18Euro/ litre

But.... about 70% of it is TAXES & VAT.

I drive a 1993 VW-T4 model with 2.4ltr diesel engine and I feed it with=20
rape-oil for 0.68 EUR per ltr wich is 3.24 US$ per US-gallon and gives a =

rather cheap milage per Euro for european circumstances.....

And to become on topic: I have a CB-radio in my car... :-)

you are speaking to the wrong person looking for house price sympathy.
60 miles east of nyc and a 1500 sq ft house on a 1/4 acre goes for 369K
and if its new 10k per year in taxes. people rent their sheds to
illegals to pay the bills.
