Default Microwave Software

Is there a source for Puff 2.1 in the USA currently. I know it is no longer
avaiabe from Professor Dave Rutledge at Caltech Institute. I don't want to
buy the two the books

http://www.its.caltech.edu/%7Emmic/p.../puffform.html

that have included it just for the software.

I have version 1.0. If you can use that, I will be happy to email it to
you.

Have a look at Ansoft Designer SV. It's free (intended for students)
although the full version costs lots of $$$.

Thanks. I was just reading about it in a couple of new books I just got,
"Microwave Projects" and "International Microwave Handbook", both from RSGB.

You may want to look for a free program called RFSIM99 which is an 'S'
parameter analysis program using schematic entry. I find it useful,
although I haven't tried to load microstrip matching sections yet.

It is fairly intuitive, and I see the microstrip transmission component
looks to be reasonably comprehensive.

I particularly like the monte-carlo random component tolerance analysis.
It's helped me to make sure my designs will be easy to build and likely to
work.

I am sure Ansoft Designer SV is a more powerful program, but for most of
the things I do, RFSIM99 is nice.
