Martz is run by Greenville SC based Roger El Comandante Martinez, who also operates Poder 102.9 W275BJ/WGTK-HD2 Greenville. The new format will create a competitor to Norsan Media rimshot Latina 102.3 WGSP-FM Pageland SC. iHeartMedia/Charlotte inks a multi-year agreement with Martz Media Inc. and will introduce the new Contemporary Latin on W254AZ-FM as Ke Buena 98.7 FM. No programming changes accompany the rebranding as the station continues to run iHearts Premium Choice programming. The translator was 11th in the market with a 2.6 share in the most recent Winter Phase 2 Nielsen Audio ratings trends outranking many full powered signals in the market. /////////////////////////////////////////// Gold Coast's KCAQ & KOCP To Swap Frequencies Posted: 30 Jun 2016 08:49 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...p-frequencies/ Gold Coast Broadcasting will swap frequencies for its Rhythmic Oldies Old School 95.9 KOCP Camarillo and Rhythmic CHR Q104.7 KCAQ Oxnard in the Oxnard/Ventura market on Friday, July 1 at 7:00am. The move is all about the adjacent Los Angeles market as the move is to allow KOCPs programming to rimshot the city filling the void for Rhythmic Oldies created by the flip of Hot 92.3 KHHT to Urban Real 92.3 KRRL in February 2015. 104.7s signal covers much of Los Angeles proper with a booster in the San Fernando Valley and a translator CP on 98.3 that will cover the westside including Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. Much of its programming is duplicated on Old School 104.7 KQIE Redlands serving the Inland Empire. The KCAQ programming will be downgraded to the Class A signal of 95.9. However that station holds a CP that will relocate the signal to east of Oxnard where it will sacrifice its coverage in the Santa Barbara market for additional coverage in Simi Valley/Thousand Oaks and the western side of the San Fernando Valley. /////////////////////////////////////////// Sean Ross: Looking For Clues In The Hits Of The 80s Posted: 30 Jun 2016 08:13 AM PDT http://www.goenvisionnetworks.com/20...ts-of-the-80s/ /////////////////////////////////////////// Dana & Jayson Exit WBLI Morning Show Posted: 30 Jun 2016 07:49 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...-morning-show/ Dana DiDonato and Jayson Prim have exited mornings at Cox CHR 106.1 WBLI Patchouge/Long Island NY. WMGC is temporarily rebroadcasting the Oldies programming heard on 94.7 WCSX-HD2 until a new format is launched. The Sports format had launched in August 2013 with much fanfare to take on CBS usually market-leading 97.1 The Ticket WXYT-FM, but failed to gain any momentum despite the addition of Detroit Pistons basketball. In the May 2016 Nielsen Audio PPM ratings WMGC held a 0.9 share of the Detroit audience while WXYT-FM was #1 in the market overall with a 7.3 share. Greater Media released the following statement: Greater Media announces the company has discontinued the Detroit Sports talk format on 105.1/WMGC-FM in the Motor City. The change officially took place at 6pm on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016. The station, which officially launched in August of 2013, has served as a sports talk alternative in the market. “The change comes after much careful consideration of the direction of the stations format and overall ratings over the past three years,” said Steve Chessare, vice president and market manager of WMGC-FM. “We would like to thank our dedicated listeners and the entire Detroit Sports 105.1 staff for their many contributions to the station in the Motor City. They are true professionals and we are very grateful to them. WMGC-FM will feature the sounds of sister station WCSX-FM’s HD2 Detroit Oldies format during the interim until a new format is officially unveiled. WMGC-FM is owned by Greater Boston Radio, Inc., a subsidiary of Greater Media, Inc., the parent company of 21 AM and FM radio stations in the Boston, Charlotte, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets. The company also owns a group of weekly newspapers in central New Jersey and several telecommunications towers located throughout the United States. INSTANT INSIGHT: At first glance only two gaping format holes exist in Detroit. Formats that Greater Media conveniently programs in other markets. Rhythmic Hot AC ala Hot 96.9 WBQT Boston or Variety Hits. The latter would give Greater Media the same three music formats in their Detroit and Philadelphia clusters. |
