IARU Region 1 Monitoring Service Reports an Apparent Success:

The International Amateur Radio Union Region 1 (IARU-R1) Monitoring
System (IARUMS) reports that the Russian military apparently
responded positively to a complaint from German telecommunications
authorities to eliminate an intruding signal on 20 meters. The
Russian Navy "RDL" signal from Crimea had been transmitting on
14.180 MHz, using F1B at 50 baud and 200 Hz shift for several days.
IARUMS said the transmissions were heard for the last time on
October 31. IARU Region 1 includes Europe and Africa.

ARRL Honorary Vice President, Director Emeritus Tod Olson, K0TO (SK):

ARRL Honorary Vice President and Director Emeritus Tod Olson, K0TO
(ex-W0IYP), of Minnesota and Idaho, died on November 12 after
battling cancer for several years. An ARRL Life Member, he was 83.
He began his volunteer service to ARRL in 1974 as the Minnesota
Section Communications Manager. He became Dakota Division Vice
Director in 1976, and then Director in 1982. In 1986, the ARRL Board
of Directors elected him as ARRL Vice President of International
Affairs, a post he held until 1990. He again served as Dakota
Division Director from 1994 until 1999. The ARRL Board of Directors
named him an ARRL Director Emeritus in 2000 and an ARRL Honorary
Vice President in 2003.

EO-79/FUNcube-3 Now Available for Amateur Radio Use:

The EO-79/FUNcube-3 satellite has transitioned to Amateur Radio
service, now that its primary mission has been completed. AMSAT-UK
and AMSAT-NL have announced that the FUNcube U/V transponder on the
2U CubeSat QB50p1 has been activated with a regular schedule.

The Yavapai Amateur Radio Club (YARC) of Prescott, AZ, is planning to
operate a special event station November 17, 2016, in celebration of the
NRA's 145th birthday. The special event station will operate from Gunsite
Academy's 2,000-acre campus in Paulden, AZ, north of Prescott. The special
event call sign will be K7NRA. Operations will be conducted on the
following frequencies:
