NY's WX

Well, I just lost my first antenna at our new QTH to the sudden wind and ice
storm here in NY. I was just finishing up with AA7VW on 40 when my receive
went completely dead and the SWR shot straight through the roof.

Chalk up another new experience for the newbie. (Drats!)

BERT! Brother, don't you know that there never was an antenna made
that was worth a salt unless you had to get out in freezing cold,
driving rain or hair-raising electrical activity to either erect or
repair...?!?! =)

Dress warm! It's been in the 40's to 50's here in SE Tennessee
all week!

Thanks Steve,

It's 14 degrees F outside with 40 mph gusts. (Making it feel even colder.)
We've had some local houses have their trees fall over. (One of 'em into a
bedroom.)

'Tis NOT the time to repair this puppy. :-)

BTW, it appears to be a coax/connector failure. Last night when I looked
from the window, the antenna appeared intact. However, this morning, the
coax had separated from the lower PL-259 (DON'T get me started on these!)
while the antenna proper still appeared intact.

Looks like a w/e project, WX permitting. Stay warm es...

Sorry to hear about your antenna, Bert. sounds like it could have been
much worse tho.

Hey Steve, do me a favor and put in for warm weather for the first week
of April. I'm heading down that way with my camper for the Bristol races
the 2nd and 3rd. :)
