HE-30 fixed front panel
I finally had time over the long weekend to work
on my damaged HE-30 receiver. The front panel was bent and curled over on the top corners, and bent away from the back subpanel which holds the dial glass, s-meter and tuning shaft bearings. Next project is to try to make duplicate knobs, since most of the originals were damaged in shipment. I also have to touch up the paint on the cover edges. If anyone has knobs for this set, I'll pay your price!! Pete |

Just out of curiosity...
The 10m, 15m, 20m, 40m, and 80m bands are marked on the main tuning. But where would you set the main tuning to properly use the bandspread for each band? I am particularly curious about 40m and 80m, both of which have two bandspreads. And why is there no bandspread for 20m? |

And why is there no bandspread for 20m? Right side of the dial, second line down from the top. -ex ... ** Posted from http://www.teranews.com ** |

Should be at the beginning of the bands (the long stripes found on the main tuning dial) |

And why is there no bandspread for 20m? That is an oddity on this receiver. 20 meter bandspread scale is to the RIGHT of the 15 meter BS scale. They are rather small scales. If you look closely, you can see where the 15 meter scale ends, a gap, and then the markings for 20 meters. 80 and 40 meters have very wide BS, with 5 kHz markings. There are two set points for each band on the main tuning scale, indicated by small circles. 40 and 80 meters each have two BS scales. The trick is in precisely setting the main tuning for good calibration on the BS scale. The dial pointer width is equal to 50 kHz. I think if I ever used this RX on the air, I'd make an HF converter that would use the 80 meter or 40 meter scales for the upper ham bands, that would also take care of the image problems. Pete |
