Old Magnavox catalog00
I'm guessing this catalog is about 1964ish? It shows both tube and
transistor (Astro Sonic) sets. It's falling apart so I scanned it. Ken D. |

Thank you, Ken. Very enlightening, and a great reference. It's from
1963. I've had a few of these models! In article , jim mac wrote: In article , "Ken Doyle" wrote: I'm guessing this catalog is about 1964ish? It shows both tube and transistor (Astro Sonic) sets. Wonderful set. Ken D. I had the Normandy Provincial. Bought it for $10, cleaned it up and sold it for $60. I currently have the French Provincial, but from the previous year. Tube model, but identical cabinet to the one shown. The other two Maggies I have are a Magnasonic Traditional from 1966, and an Early American from 1969. That one has the stepped tone contols and balance control and 15" woofers. I had another (I believe it was a '69) previously, but it was more of a standard model, with only 12" woofers. Got the latter one free on the curb, sold it for $50. Have any other catalogs or brochures for Magnavox? Operating manuals? GG -- "Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize." |

Just got myself a free '63 Astro-Sonic tube model today. Trying to figure out the style, etc. It's a model 16T626R, serial #1677915. I have heard that they switched from tubes to solid state in '63, so I was surprised to see the tubes. Maybe it's actually a '62? 1963 was handwritten in the manual by the original owner, so maybe that's just when it was purchased. Haven't done anything with it yet. Former owner tells me it works great in all aspects. It belonged to her parents, the original owners. I'm no radio person, so any tips would be helpful. I'm about to unscrew the back for a good cleaning on the interior before I move it to it's spot to plug it in. Also- where to buy user-replacement parts such as stylus? Probably could stand to have a new one I'm guessing, but the jury is still out on everything at this point. Pics available on request... |
