I new to all this and I have a Motorola MaxTrac 800 and I want to know if it can be converted to be just an emergency scanner. I was told it could be but I can't even find a users guide for it. Motorola's web site dosen't even have one. If it can be converted could I do it? The model # is D35MWA5GB6AK

I also have 2 Moto MTX 810's and 1 Moto MTX, it has no numbers just mtx on the front. Can any one tell me anything about these radios? I looked around the website before posting but I couldn't deside where to post my questions so I'm sorry if there in the wrong place.

Convert a conventional MaxTrac 800 trunking HT to a scanner? I suppose it
is possible with the right software and an external device to drive it (like
a PC) but it certainly isn't part of the standard functionality of that
transceiver.

If you want a trunking scanner, just buy one. It will be cheaper and more
functional than whatever you might dream of doing with a Motorola-only HT
solution.

Yes, the MaxTrac and the MTX can "Scan" 800 Mhz only. Take the battery off
the MTX and see what the serial number is.
It will be H01??? the 4th character will be a "U" for 800Mhz and a "W" for
900Mhz.
The MTX can be configured as a16/32/48 channel radio and it will scan 16
channels. You need Motorola RSS software to do
this and a SLOW DOS computer.
