I HOPE you didn't pay more than about $30 for it. that's exactly what i paid. I have a PRO-95 (similar to the -93 I think), have for years. It's a great scanner but with the rebanding law certain trunking systems don't work anymore, also doesn't cover LTR or APCO digital. I'm looking at the new PSR-310, just received approval and slowly coming into all the online stores. No digital but digital's not worth the money in my location, but it covers Motorola, EDACS, and LTR, as well as the rebanding and the UHF mil-air band (which I've never heard/used). One of the good things about the PRO-93 and PRO-95 is that if you use Don Starr's programs, you get to enter any frequency except cell, though reception isn't as good/is useless depending on the frequency. (mil air doesn't seem to work) http://starrsoft.com/ Using a -93 or -95 is OK I guess if you use it for ham radio and non-trunking stuff below the 800 MHz band. I wouldn't buy a non-rebanding scanner off eBay, and I can't believe they're selling them, it's just unethical. -- Henry Pizzinger Institution for the Mentally 31337 AzzMazta, Chairman & CEO www.xcopfly.com |

(mil air doesn't seem to work) looking forward to getting it. it's only 300 channels, but who can monitor that many? bought an old pro 2050 on ebay but wanted a hand held that could scan conventional AND trunked at the same time. pro2050 is back on ebay... i run with the local ambulance crew so like to listen to their trunked motorola system when i'm off duty...and i do communications for the USCG in NY so have their freqs progammed as well.. http://starrsoft.com/ Using a -93 or -95 is OK I guess if you use it for ham radio and non-trunking stuff below the 800 MHz band. so far the county is sticking with the old 800 mhz system. i figured if they change, i'll only lose the 30 bux i spent on the scanner I wouldn't buy a non-rebanding scanner off eBay, and I can't believe they're selling them, it's just unethical. you can get ons that do rebandiing for 80-140 or so, but i just wanted something for my local area and for USCG comms...at a cheap price! |

you get to enter any frequency except cell, Is there any real need in the US to have the 800MHz phone freqs blocked anymore?? Bloody annoying that we, who are not Governed by the US, have to suffer the stupid and unnecessary blocking of 800MHz In Australia our trunking band finishes partway into the blocked freqs so trunk tracker scanners have problems there was never a law here banning these freqs from radios but we had to suffer it with radios made for the US but sold here We have had a few "Non US" and even "Made For Aust" scanners here but making them just for our very small market means much higher prices ie. the "UBCD996T"(UBC=Aust, BC=US) was AUD$1000 or about US$850 and the remote heat RH96 was AUD$400 Is there any action being taken in the US towards having this block removed if the freqs are no longer used for Analogue Mobile Phone Services?
