is there a way to get rid of the factory battary back and convert to a
standard AA battery setup? Anyone aware of someone who has done
this or offers a replaceable "kit".

Thanks, Elbert

Take a look at http://www.qsl.net/kc8unj/projects/bc245xlt.html. It's not
something I would do to my radio but this is the only battery mod I know of.

Check out Lee's Electronics BP1700 NiMH battery for $24.50

www.leeselect.com

No, I don't work for them - but I did see their ad in PopCom and
ordered one for my 245xlt.

I used to drain the life out of my factory battery constantly - now it
sometimes takes several days before I need to recharge (or course,
your mileage may vary depending on how much you use yours).

Definately worth checking out - good luck!

Lee's used to buy their battery packs from Primecell. Not sure if they still
do. Same price either way and Lee's is good to deal with.

Or, better yet, go to www.batteriesamerica.com,
and check out the BP120XS for $23.

It's 2000mah, and fits the BC235/245/250D.

another 245 ?

anyone know for sure which rat shack adapter fits on the
radiao shack a/c adapter??? Yea I know its a little confusing.
I'm talking about the little adapter part that fits in the radio with
a two prong plug that fits the a/c adapter cord. The have letter
designatiions... I got the H version because it looked like the best
fit, but I'm not sure its the correct one, because I'm having problems
chargiing the battery.

Surely this not some special type of deal you have to buy from
uniden......
