Lansing,MI FD dumps 800mhz
 

I found out last month that the FD dumped their 800Mhz radio here in
Lansing Michigan. In favor of the older 460Mhz system. I guess digital
isn't cracked up to whet it is hyped to. They scrapped the old 800Mhz
equipment.

Is there anything on the web to verify this? I live in Macomb County, and
they're getting ready to take the plunge to the MSP digital system. They
might be interested in this.

I found this out during a ARES, RACES meeting, at the Wayne county
emergency management offices. Right after which scads of 800MHz
equipment showed up on the surplus market and the ham swaps.

Digital might not be all that's it's cracked up to be, least not since
sliced bread.
