Cheap Trunker
 

I am getting back into the scanner situation, I own a old, I repeat
old aor 1000 and an aor 8200. I miss the trunkered situations though.
Portability is not an issue. I am looking at both the 2051 and the
handheld 97. Can either be used with an USB connection?

Need help with new Uniden BC 895XLT
 

I bought a new Uniden BC 895XLT scanner. To use it in Austin Texas, It is
supposed to pick up Austin Police. All I can get is a loud "buzzing" on
their channels (900-T channels). The reciever is a "trunk-tracker" and is
for CTCSS opereations. I asked the police comminications officer about what
kind of signal they use and they refuse to tell the public. Im a retired
fire man and they have no low here prohibiting my listening.

Please, does any here have any kind of idea of what kind of signal Austin,
Texas uses and if my new Bearcat BC 895XLT
is capable of working with their local signals.

I have the book but cannot make it work on the local police radios. It
works great on other police and fire calls.

In accordance with this web site Austin is part of the Austin/Travis County
Project 25 trunked system. The only frequencies listed for Austin are
conventional which are linked to the Project 25 system.

Not sure if your 895 will track the whole system or what it's going to sound
like when you enter them in to your scanner
