The BC796D Scanner VERY VERY PRICEY

Does someone know a very cheap price like around 200 to 350$ range
BC796D BASE SCANNER?? I went to HRO, and let me tell you....I can pay
for a trip to Europe for that kinda money on what they were asking
for...like around 515$.....Thats very pricey IMHO....

Can somone suggest anything further??? I do want the 796D and nothing
else...

And BTW - How can I program the Talk Groups?? My local Police
departarment is running on an Motorolla Type 2 radio transmitter
site...And plus they are using a Trunked Analog/Digital mix for right
now I guess until they switch fully to Digital...I gues there running
on an ICIS Trunked radio call frequencies....So I grabbed the frequency
directory book and looked at their frequecies and alot of them have
TG:#### (whatever that means so I would like start learning on how to
program these before buying a scanner like this...for cheap of
course...

The sales guy was very nice...He said if I did had purchased this
scanner, he can download all the APCO based frequencies for me...

He also said it is a real nighmare now to listen to these frequencies
now..

I hate to tell you that $515 is not a bad price since we only pay $496
dollars for the scanner.. I just checked our wholesale pricing on it.

1. You'll be missing a lot if you settle for the 796 instead of
getting the 396 or waiting for the 996.

2. The price is about normal - $500-$550 for a digital trunking
scanner.

3. http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR for
frequencies, talkgroups, etc. Download the Uniden UASD for the
BCD396-T and you'll be able to program the frequencies, talkgroups,
etc. Then, if you buy a Uniden that comes with UASD software, you'll
be able to program the scanner with the software and the system files
you've saved.
